Välkommen till Chania

Välkommen till Chania

Välkommen till Chania.

I know Frida ever since we were teenagers. Before social media was even a thing, we were pen pals.

We had exchanged some letters before she and her parents came to Athens for the holidays.

I still remember that night.

I was coming back from the gym when I saw a taxi, a girl around my age and her parents just outside my house. It seemed they were looking for the right address so I approached and the girl asked me: “Are you Penelope”? Not knowing exactly what was going on, I nod my head saying yes. “I am Frida from Sweden!” she said holding a letter in her hands with my address on it!

How sweet is that? ♥

And this is when it all started! The same night we had dinner all together at my house with my mother cooking traditional Greek food. We chatted over dinner and spend an amazing time all together.

The next day they flew back to Sweden, but we promised we would keep in touch.

After some months, I visited her in South Sweden. I had the warmest welcome by Frida and her lovely parents and we spend a wonderful week together!

Then two years later, we spend some time in Athens and in Aegina island.

Ever since we keep contact, writing to each other, sending boxes with Christmas treats. birthday presents etc. Our parents also kept in touch.

We had a lot of things in common and we shared the same habits, so we call each other sisters.

Chania.

This year we reunited in Chania. Frida, her parents, her husband and her son. I met them at their hotel and we spent the whole day chattering over some drinks by the pool. It was wonderful!

We also had a lovely evening at the Venetian harbour of Chania.

We dined at Lithos restaurant, which is located right in the heart of the old port. The views over the port were beautiful and we had an excellent service by Nikos. We also had some welcome drinks and treats  before and after dinner. I can’t recommend it enough!

We spend our last day together by visiting the exotic Balos lagoon and beach, one of the most beautiful places in Crete!

We took the ferry from Kissamos.

… had some dirnks 🙂

Skål 🙂

Then we arrived to one of Crete’s most exotic beaches.

… and yet, there will be more adventures to come! We will meet again my swedish sister!

I love you all! ♥

Until next time ♥
