A day in Hampstead Heath

A day in Hampstead Heath

A day in Hampstead Heath.

It’s been quite a while since I wrote about London’s parks. My  last blog post was about two years ago at Regent’s park

So a bit far away from buzzing zone one, to a calmer neighbourhood, is located Hampstead Heath.

We visited Kenwood House at Hampstead Heath, one of my favourite places!

This time we decided to take the 210 bus from the Archway station to Kenwood. It takes around 20 minutes to get there.

Hampstead Heath and Kenwood House

Hampstead Heath is the biggest park in North London and Kenwood House is located in the north part of the park in a space surrounded by trees, and a pond. It’s a north London gem well known by the locals.

Kenwood Houseis a 17th-century historic neoclassical mansion, with a striking white façade and restored interiors. It is located on top of Hampstead Heath and it’s free to visit.

For all Notting Hill fans out there, Kenwood House was the Henry James film location.

Also, there are scenes from Sense and Sensibility that were filmed here in Kenwood House.

Kenwood was once home to the first Earl of Mansfield through the 18th and 19th centuries and it is now open to the public as a museum. It contains a rich collection of famous paintings and other works of art, including works by Rembrandt and Vermeer

It also includes a The Brew House Café, which serves a takeaway menu, and it has indoor and outdoor seating.

There is also a shop that sells from mugs and stationery to tote bags and tea bags. It’s quite cute on the outside 🙂

We decided to have a picnic near the pond. We took a coffee from the House Café, we wandered around the pond and visited the Kenwood House.

But mostly it was about relaxing under the sun and listening to Stephen Fry as a narrator to Harry Potter audiobooks. How relaxing!

Until next time!
