Biennale of Architecture 2018 – Arsenale

Biennale of Architecture 2018 - Arsenale

The first thing that passed through my mind from the very beginning was: What a shame! I studied Architecture in Rome and i never stepped my foot into the biggest and most famous Architecture show worldwide! The place where internationally well-known Architects and Artists (and also new talents) showcase their new projects!

After our trip to Udine, and at the Moroso factory, our last stop was at the Biennale of Venice. It was a cloudy Saturday morning in beautiful Venice when we visited the 16th International Architecture Exhibition FREESPACE.

The exhibition for the Art and Architecture takes place in two  venues: The Arsenale and The Giardini. We visited only the Arsenale that morning as the forecast was showing heavy rain (and it rained cats and dogs)…

It took us half day to see the installations in The Arsenale. 64 firms participated along with 24 national pavilions in this huge exhibition space of 50,000 square meters.

The highlights of the Arsenale in my opinion are:

  • Bamboo Stalactite by VTN Architects
  • Cloud Pergola  designed by Bruno Juričić. (Croatian Pavilion)
  • ReCasting by Alison Brooks Architects.
  • Sunyata The Poetics of Emptiness (Indonesian Pavilion) – I didn’t manage to take a representative picture 🙁
  • The Cloud Village designed by Philip F. Yuan – Archi-Union Architects (Chinese Pavilion) – Unfortunately i didn’t have a good picture to upload)
  • Weaving Architecture by Miralles Tagliabue EMBTT

I feel so grateful being part of this amazing trip! I had the chance to see in action what happens behind the curtains of Moroso furniture, I felt completely spoiled at Castello di Spessa, We visited the Biennale, the food was all these days amazing and I got to meet some wonderful people! Thank you Moroso team for this unforgettable experience!

Next stop…. Romantic Venice! ❣️

Stay tuned <3
