The Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon by The Athenian Girl

The Book of Mormon.

About a month ago, we booked tickets for the Tony award winning musical comedy Book of Mormon. My first West End Show! The only thing I knew at that time was that it was created by Tray ParkerMatt Stone (the brains behind South Park) and Robert Lopez (music composer of Frozen). Three very talented people that have been nominated for Emmy, Tony, Grammy and Oscar awards in their careers so far -and Lopez won them all-.  The Book of Mormon only, won nine Tony awards and a Grammy.

The past month I didn’t go out a lot. So the night we went to the theatre, made me see again, all the reasons London is one of the best places on earth. People come to London for its West End shows, like they are going to New York for its Broadway shows.

The Prince of Wales Theatre is just a few steps from Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. The theatre is Art-Deco with a seating capacity of about 1,100. Our seats were centrally placed in the mezzanine level and we could easily see the stage without any issues as the auditorium seating layout and the slope was just perfect!

The story is about two Mormons that were sent as missionaries to a village in Uganda. In an effort to convert the locals into Mormonism, they realise that their naive ways from Utah are far from relevant in the harsh African day to day reality. The whole theatre and myself included were laughing from the beginning to the end making this night truly special and hilarious!

The Book of Mormon a must-see, amazing production with great actors and music!

Until next time
