School of Rock

School of Rock

One of the things London is best known for, is its West End shows.

And it’s for a reason. They rock! (ok most of them)! Even the ones that aren’t absolutely fabulous, the production is stunning. The scenery the lighting and costumes are always of top quality.

School of Rock is my third West End show and I was looking forward to it!

It’s based on the hit movie School of Rock. A movie that is one of the best of its kind! Who didn’t fell for Jack Black in this movie? (At least I did)! Not only for his enegy and great acting – making his character unforgettable – and but he was also adorable!

Not to mention the top soundtrack! (It won the best compilation soundtrack album for a motion picture).

So I was both excited and had high expectations for the theatre release.

I already knew that the music was by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Even though this can in a way guarantee that the songs will be phenomenal, I was constantly thinking how can it beat songs such as  Smoke on the water, the Immigrant song, Highway to hell etc,?

Last but not least, how can you replace Jack Black as Dewey Finn?

All my questions were answered after about 10 minutes the musical had started!

The musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rock star who teaches rock at a prestigious prep school. The lead actor, Craig Gallivan was as amazing as Jack Black! I loved the songs and I will be stuck for a while with ”Stick it to the man”

Stick it to the man (my favourite song)

To be fair the whole cast and the kids were very talented and so professionaly energetic! I mean try to sing a song while jumping up and down without losing it after some seconds! Absolute perfection!

In case you haven’t watched School of Rock, I highly recommend it. For me, it’s on the list of the must-see movies.

Then if you have the opportunity, see the West End show as well!

Until next time ♥
