Sunny weekend in Exeter.
Lately, the weather feels more like… home to me. Sunny, warm and blue skies, is definitely my thing! Sunny weather makes me smile, I have a better mood and that feeling that.. everything will be fine.
So with that cheerful attitude, we travelled this time until Exeter, Devonshire.
Exeter is located in Devonshire a popular holiday vacation with sandy beaches, medieval towns, beautiful harbours and picturesque villages. Even though it has some tourist attractions, I wouldn’t consider Exeter as a touristic city. It is really attractive and lively that offers many entertainment options, shopping facilities, indoor and outdoor activities.
So we stayed at the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel which is in a really convenient location in the city centre.
The first thing we did was to eat some lunch at the Turtle Bay, a Caribbean restaurant that was close to our hotel.
Then we headed to Exeter Quayside. A beautiful riverside area with a variety of shops such as antique stores, cafes and restaurants and charming waterside walks. Really the greatest place if you want to be in the sun!
We had a cup of coffee at the Coffee Cellar. Even though we were sitting outdoors, when I ordered inside, (the shop is within a cellar, a barrel vault construction with rounded arches), I was intrigued by its quirky interior style. The owners are really friendly people and warm!
Then we visited the Exeter Cathedral a Medieval Gothic Building in the heart of the city.
That day, England was playing against Panama in the World Cup 2018 so we visited the Ship pub. England won 6-1 so you can imagine the cheerful atmosphere 🙂
For dinner, we ate at ASK Italian. I loved this place! The food was really tasteful (they serve classic Italian dishes along with contemporary cuisine). The atmosphere is elegant and the service very attentive and friendly!
The next day we visited the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, where it holds diverse collections of local and overseas archaeology, geology, zoology, anthropology and fine art. It had many interactive displays which made the whole experience more fun!
We had refreshing drinks and tasteful salads for lunch at the Giraffe.
Overall, Exeter was really fun, I enjoyed the sunny weather, the outdoor spaces, the food, the picturesque views over the river, and the narrow streets around the Exeter Cathedral.
Until next time ♥
